DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera del Instituto Cervantes)
The DELE Spanish diplomas are official qualifications accrediting the degree of competence and command of the Spanish language, which are awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training and can only be obtained in examination centres accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, such as Elian’s British School La Nucía.

The Diplomas in Spanish as a Foreign Language are internationally recognised and facilitate access:
| The main objective of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to study at university, mainly master’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees, which require accreditation at level B2 and C1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
| They are recognised by private companies and chambers of commerce.

Levels
The diplomas are obtained by passing the DELE exam tests which assess reading comprehension, listening comprehension and written and oral expression and interaction in Spanish, as mentioned above, in accordance with the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Manual for relating exams to the CEFR, both works of the Council of Europe.
The following diplomas can be obtained:
| DELE A1 (The ability to understand and use very familiar everyday expressions and simple sentences in order to satisfy immediate needs).
| DELE A2 (Proves the ability to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to relevant areas of experience and to communicate when carrying out simple, everyday tasks). DELE A2 or higher is a requirement for obtaining Spanish nationality for non-Spanish-speaking applicants, whether Sephardic, originating in Spain or resident in Spain.
| DELE B1 (This qualification certifies the ability to understand the main points of texts on familiar matters in order to cope with most situations in everyday life).
| DELE B2 (Independent User: Upper Intermediate) Minimum level required for access to higher education and in many professions.
| DELE C1 (Proficient user: effective operational proficiency)
| DELE C2 (Proficient user: mastery)

The calls will start from 2022 as follows:
April for all general levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1and C2)
May Dele School (A2-B1)
Noviembre para todos los niveles generales (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1y C2)

Where to register
Anyone wishing to take a DELE exam at Elian’s British School La Nucía should register through the Instituto Cervantes website https://examenes.cervantes.es/es. On this page you will find all the information about the levels at which you can sit the exams as well as online courses to help you pass the exams and the possibility of accessing the preparation manuals. The registration process and the requirements for enrolment are also explained in detail.
En líneas generales, los candidatos que deseen presentarse para la obtención de los Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera deberán acreditar, en el momento de realizar la inscripción, su condición de ciudadanos de un país en el que la lengua española no sea lengua oficial.

To register for the DELE exams for schoolchildren, our students at Elian’s will be registered through the school itself, as the exams are held at the school.

In the case of students from Elian’s own centre who have to take the Dele for adults or general exams, they should do so on the website of the Instituto Cervantes (https://examenes.cervantes.es/es ). The teacher and the school itself will help the students to complete the registration correctly.
